Sea-rail Intermodal Transport, More than 90,000 TEU per Year! The Total Export Volume Here Accounts for One Third of Yuecheng

In December, at the Gaobu Railway Freight Station, containers loaded with textiles, medical equipment, instruments and other export goods were 'lifted' onto trains and neatly positioned, and will soon be shipped out to Ningbo Zhoushan Port. As the year-end approaches, for many export-oriented enterprises in Yuecheng, it is a critical period to meet their annual orders. Therefore, the railway Gaobu Freight Station, an important transshipment hub for Yuecheng's sea-rail intermodal transport, becomes particularly busy, with hundreds of containers departing from here daily to destinations around the world.

According to the introduction, sea-rail intermodal transport refers to the transportation of import and export goods by railway which connects with maritime port and vessel transportation through transfer, completing the entire transportation process with just "one declaration, one inspection, one release", making it a powerful tool for cost reduction and efficiency improvement in foreign trade exports.  It ingeniously combines the stability of railway transportation with the large capacity characteristics of maritime transport, significantly enhancing transportation efficiency while effectively reducing logistics costs, meaning that for exporting companies, this implies controllable costs and enhanced competitiveness. "More than half of our company's export products are now directly transported to Ningbo Zhoushan Port by rail, which is more convenient and reassuring than road transport."  said the person in charge of Shaoxing Xinyuan Textile Co., LTD.

The convenience of goods export is an important component of the business environment and one of the key factors attracting more enterprises to settle in Yuecheng District.  In recent years, Yuecheng District has been committed to building a safe, stable, and efficient sea-rail intermodal transport channel, continuously optimizing capacity allocation, improving customer service, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring the smooth flow of the logistics supply chain's 'last mile', effectively stimulating the vitality of the district's global foreign trade development. According to statistics, the current railway Gaobu Freight Station completes over 90,000 TEU container exports annually through sea-rail intermodal transport, accounting for about one-third of the total export volume in Yuecheng District.  The "West Qianqing, East Gaobu" dual-center intermodal transport effect in the sea-rail intermodal sector has also significantly promoted the industrial linkage between Keqiao and Yuecheng.

'Apart from sea-rail intermodal transport, a more three-dimensional and diversified logistics golden channel is also being planned. ' A relevant official from the Yuecheng District Transportation Bureau told reporters that Yuecheng is currently planning to build the Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Ningbo multimodal transport hub integrating road, rail, waterway, and air transportation.  According to the plan, the Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Ningbo multimodal transport hub project spans Donghu and Gaobu streets, with plans to construct four major hubs: low-altitude aviation, waterway, rail, and highway, covering a total land area of 1715.2 mu, with a total investment of approximately 12.56 billion yuan. The project is divided into initial, medium-term, and long-term phases according to the construction timeline, and the initial phase —— Hangzhou Bay Low-Altitude Comprehensive Transportation Hub sub-project will be initiated first.

"A high-level comprehensive hub will bring all-round support to Yuecheng's integration into the Yangtze River Delta transportation network, optimize its business environment, enhance its transportation capacity and improve its urban level." said the official.
